Frequently asked questions

What is the running cost of an electric car per km in India?

Divide the electricity price by the car's efficiency. At 7 km/kWh, fast charging at ₹18/kWh costs about ₹2.57/km and home charging at ₹8/kWh about ₹1.14/km, against about ₹7.18/km for a 15 km/L petrol car at ₹107.76/L.

Is public fast charging more expensive than home charging?

Yes. Public DC charging includes the station's electricity tariff, a service charge for the charger and site, and 18% GST, so it costs more per kWh than a home connection — but it is still cheaper per km than petrol for most cars.

How can I lower my EV running cost?

Charge at home or at work for daily driving, use fast chargers for trips, and avoid charging to 100% on DC. Under time-of-day tariffs, daytime (solar-hour) electricity is usually cheapest.
